Abdulrahman Wants Recognition For Gombe Bulls

Gombe Bulls coach, Abdulrahman Mohammed wants official recognition from Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) for the newly crowned 2018 Kwese Basketball Premier League (KBPL) champions.

The Tijani Umar-led NBBF organsied the competition, but the board of Ahmed Musa-Kida, which is recognised by the global body, FIBA, has washed its hands of the league.

In reaction, Abdulrahman said the league in Kano deserves all-round recognition, because he says it was one that had thoroughly tested the clubs in Nigeria participating.

He added that the competition saw all the teams go through a longer time span for a league.

Abdulrahman, consequently, urged the Kida-led NBBF board to be humble enough to accept the  outcome of the league rather than make moves to organise another competition.

He pleaded: “I don’t want anything to be done on the basis of heating up the politics on ground.

“But, any hurriedly organised league now will be doing a great disservice to the demand of a far-reaching and highly competitive contest among the top clubs in Nigeria.”
