Adelanwa Tips D’Tigers To Make World Cup Cut

Nigeria’s Veteran Coach, Alabi Adelanwa has tipped D.Tigers to qualify for the FIBA 2019 Worldcup in China , as the former Africa Champions prepare  to take on Rwanda in the first game of the FIBA -African qualifier slated for February  in far away Kigali.

D.Tigers are expected to fight for the sole ticket in the Group-B FIBA-Africa World Cup qualifying series which also included Africa power house, Mali  and Uganda.

The former national team handler  in an exclusive chat with SportsDay in Abeokuta, was full of confident that the Engr.Musa Ahmadu Kidaled Nigeria Basketball Federation(NBBF) has what it takes to prepare the team inline with the federation’s programmes for the qualifying series to be decided on round robin basis.

“We are hopeful that the team will qualify from the group with the present board members of the federation, all of them play the game and know what it takes ,all hands must be on the desk to prepare D.Tigers for the qualifiers, the earlier they (the team) come together, the better, we have the materials,the federation knows what to do with its well thought out programmes.”,he stated.

Adelawan who lauded the federation’s effort on recent success of D.Tigers at the 2017 AFROBASKET jointly hosted by Senegal and Tunisia,where the team lost to Tunisia in the final, asked NBBF to be focussed on ensuring that the Nigeria secures one of the Africa’s five tickets to the

FIBA Worldcup in China which dunks-off between August 31 and September 15, 2019.

He also reminded the federation not to rest on its effort at preparing the Africa female champions, D.Tigeresses for the forthcoming 2018 FIBA

Women Worldcup in Spain while commending the board members for bringing the hosting of FIBA- Africa Zone-Three zonal Clubs elimination series back to Nigeria after 10 years .
