Aderemi Adewunmi Parts Ways With Kwara Falcons

Veteran Nigerian basketball coach, Aderemi Adewunmi (Owolo) is on his way out of Kwara Falcons Basketball Club, after the side’s management declined to renew the contract he had as their  head coach.

The former First Bank of Lagos coach joined Kwara Falcons on a temporary basis in 2014, but signed a permanent contract in 2015 and was part of men’s national team, D’Tigers ‘ coaching staff  that won silver at the Afrobasket Championship in 2017.

Falcons’ secretary, Azeez Bello said the management took the decision in the interest of both parties, as it would allow Adewunmi to concentrate on his national assignment.

Bello then assured the team’s teeming fans of the management’s resolve to find a suitable replacement.

He said: “We would like to thank Adewunmi for all he has achieved for the club over the last four years.

“This includes guiding us to two successive semi-finals in the Nigeria Basketball Premier League  and we wish him success.
“We’ve already started the search for a new coach by conducting interviews for a number of selected candidates and we will announce the appointment of a new coach in the nearest future.”
