Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) president, Francis Orbih has disclosed that the country’s top female player and Africa’s number one, Dorcas Adeshokan of Ogun state will soon travel for a tour of Europe.
Orbih said the tour will be part of the build-up programme outlined for Adeshokan on the road to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Orbih revealed further that Adeshokan is currently in camp alongside 15 other players in Katsina preparing for the Algeria International Championships in February.
A Nigerian official will also officiate at the championship, which will begin on the 7th and end on the 19th of February.
The federation boss also affirmed that the body is leaving no stone unturned ahead of the Lagos International Badminton Classics in July.
Orbih also confirmed that Badminton Confederation of Africa will organize a comprehensive workshop for umpires, which is also part of their efforts to develop more Nigerian umpires with the latest technology.
He said the programme will involve training tips from a Badminton World Federation official and there will also be a Para-Badminton Workshop in October.
