Standard Liege of Belgium defender, Uche Agboh jas predicted that his side will emerge victorious over Ajax Amsterdam of Holland in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League qualification fixture.
Though Agbo admits Ajax have a stronger European pedigree and greater followership on the continent than his side, he insists action on the pitch is different from statistics, and expects his side to pull through.
Consequently, Agbo is staying upbeat that Liege will go into a return leg in Amsterdam next week more confident, after they fought back to draw 2-2 with the Dutch club at the home.
The lad on loan from Granada of Spain also spoke about his personal form, and said he was satisfied with his performance against Ajax as well as his start to the new season.
Agbo, who played the full game and even provided the assist for Standard’s last-gasp equaliser against Ajax on Tuesday in Liege, said the will not give up during the reverse fixture in Holland.
“We are going to Holland next week to give Ajax a fight, we will give it all in the return leg of the Champions League playoffs.
“It was a difficult match for my team as we had to come from 2-0 down to level scores as the dot of time.
“We are pleased with the outcome of the match, it was better not to lose at home against Ajax, who have a great history in the Champions League.
“The return match is still open and we could still qualify for the group stage. I actually did what the coach asked me to do.
“I have also played the two league matches so far for my club, we have won one and drawn one away from home,” Agbo concluded.
