The Ogun State Chapter of Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG) will hold a consultative dialogue with a cross-section of Yoruba people next Tuesday 18th July in Abeokuta.
The event, which will hold at the iconic June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, will afford the leadership of ARG, led by Hon. Olawale Oshun, to have a conversation with Yoruba people on emerging sociopolitical dynamics in Nigeria, particularly as they affect Yoruba people and the Southwest geopolitical zone.
The Chapter’s Coordinator, Chief Olusegun Odegbami (MON) said that the event is in line with ARG’s tradition of always seeking to engage the minds of Yoruba people before taking a position on issues that affect them.
“Looking at the rising tensions across Nigeria, we are inviting all Yoruba people to come and dialogue with our leaders because we cannot purport to be speaking for them when their views have not been heard. There are issues to be discussed and agreed upon,” Odegbami said.
He added that participants would have their questions deliberated on and answered by a panel of discussants that include Hon. Oshun, Chief Tola Mobolurin, and Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju while they will be entertained by musical performances and short documentary by renowned filmmaker, Tunde Kelani.
