Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) newcomers, Yobe Desert Stars of Damaturu have settled for former Kano Pillars handler, Mohammed Baba Ganaru as their coach for their maiden outing in the top-flight.
In contrast with initial reports that one of their pioneer coaches, Ernest Jupiter would return to take charge of the team, the Yobe State-owned outfit have officially announced Ganaru as the new man in charge.
YobeStars will feature in the NPFL this season after they finished second behind Kwara United of Ilorin in the Northern Conference of the second-tier Nigeria National League (NNL).
Yobe State government chose the experienced gaffer ahead of other applicants ahead of the new season, and Ganaru has in turn promised a good showing by the club on their return to the top-flight.
He said: “It is a great feeling to be here, I have already map out plans for the team, we are starting as soon as possible. We will make the state proud and the players have promised their loyalty to the club.”
