Kwara United head coach Abubakar Bala has blamed defensive error for his side’s 1-0 defeat against Wikki Tourist at the New Jos Stadium, Jos last Sunday.
The Ilorin outfit had remained unbeaten in four matches, including a 3-1 victory over MFM, but saw their impressive run come to an end against Bala Nikyu’s side.
And Ocheme Edoh’s early strike in the 11th minute handed visitors their ninth defeat of the season, with the visitor’s gaffer lamenting his side’s profligacy in front of goal.
“We had a slow start to the game and conceded an early goal through a defensive error,” Bala told Goal.
“We dominated the most part of the game but could not convert the little chances we created. It is football; though we gave our best to win it did not work out.
On their continued struggle to leave the drop zone, the former Niger Tornadoes boss said: “I’m not worried because we are on course and will definitely finish the league in a good position.
“I have a balanced team that will continue to blend and improve as the league gets going. I am confident that we will be out of the relegation zone with time.”
Despite the defeat, Kwara United are 17th on the log with 26 points – only adrift of safety on goal difference after 23 games.
