Baxter: We Have Strong Desire To Beat Nigeria

South Africa’s national team, Bafana Bafana coach, Stuart Baxter is talking tough about beating Nigeria in next weekend’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, as he is banking on his players’ strong desire to beat the Super Eagles.

Although Baxter admits the Eagles have top quality stars that can prove to be a handful for any team, footballllive.ng learnt that the British soccer tactician is upbeat about his team’s chances at FNB Stadium, Johannesburg on November 17.

Consequently, Baxter has already started plotting his strategy ahead of their clash with Nigeria, in what will be their penultimate fixture in the race to Cameroon 2019 AFCON.

South Africa lost top spot in the group to Nigeria, after playing a 0-0 draw away to Seychelles, while the Eagles defeated Libya 3-2 away to move to nine points, one more than Bafana.

Nigeria will aim to avenge a 2-0 loss they suffered at home in the first leg, while South Africa will be looking for a win to return back to top spot, and Baxter says he is confident his side will achieve their desire.

Baxter said: “Being confident means I trust the players I have worked with. I know they have the desire to qualify.

“They know that Nigeria are a top class team and will also be desirous to get results.”
