The general Manager of Plateau United of Jos, Bitrus Bewarang has sent a message from his club to the entire officials, players and supporters of Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Kano Pillars who were involved in a broad day light robbery attack on Thursday afternoon.
The attack on the team occurred some minutes after one o’clock along Abaji-Lokoja highway on their way to Owerri to honour the Nigeria Professional Football League opener against Heartland FC.
Super Eagles striker Gambo Muhammed, former Dream Team star Eneji Otekpa, defensive trojan Adamu Murtala, ex Elkanemi Warriors defender Reuben Ogbonnaya and wing wizard Ubong Ekpai all sustained various degrees of injuries.
But they were responding to treatment as at 6pm when SL10 crew left the Federal Medical Centre Lokoja, where they were being attended to by medical personnels.
Bewarang condemned the attack and said, “Targeting innocent members of a football team, serves no purpose in reference to the armed robbery attack.
“My sincere thoughts and prayers are with members of the team, their families and the management of the club for the harrowing experience they are going through.
“Football is a game that has symbolically unified us and this attack has taken some of the spark out of the round leather game.
“I pray that God gives the members of the team and their families, strength as they recover from this traumatic experience,”
