Celebrating 12th Month Victory

Written By: SD Reporter

Our message this month is about the all-round celebration that lies ahead of you and for the ultimate victory that is coming our way in the last month of this year, 2016. It has indeed been a year of tough times and turbulence, with the economic recession in Nigeria resulting into untold struggles and downturn of fortunes.

However, the word of courage we have for December 2016 is that we shall end this year on a note of celebration and we shall all throw feats of thanksgiving to the Lord.

In secular terms, 12 is the number of what is completed, which forms a whole. It can also be called a perfect, harmonious and integral quality of a thing. The number also represents the manifestation of the Trinity – God, Jesus, Holy Spirit – to the world and symbolizes the command of goodness over life’s temporal nature.

In spiritual terms, it should be noted that the number twelve signifies faith and the rewards of love. This is illustrated by some biblical instances like the twelve sons of Jacob, the twelve tribes of Israel and Jesus’ twelve apostles. We can also hold unto promises of God’s divine mercy in the 12th month, as found in Genesis 29 and 30, as well as the inference to freedom in Jeremiah 52:31.

In this 12th month of the year 2016, the climax of all for this session, we are encouraged to believe that freedom from economic imprisonment and financial captivity is ours this month, as seen in the words of Jeremiah 52:31, viz: “Now it came about in the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-fifth of the month, that Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the first year of his reign, showed favor to Jehoiachin king of Judah and brought him out of prison.”

We are further encouraged to expect victory over all manner of enemies this month, such that celebration and thanksgiving will be our portion, as we aim for a glorious end to 2016.

This is the message in Esther 9:1& 2 – “Now in the twelfth month (that is, the month Adar), on the thirteenth day when the king’s command and edict were about to be executed, on the day when the enemies of the Jews hoped to gain the mastery over them, it was turned to the contrary so that the Jews themselves gained the mastery over those who hated them. The Jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their hurt: and no man could withstand them; for the fear of them fell upon all people.”

Adar is the month of good fortune for the Jewish people. The word Adar is cognate to the Hebrew word “adir”, meaning “strength.” It also means exalted, praised and power. Where it says: “The Lord is (Adir) mighty on High.” Correlatively, in the month of Adar, we rejoice because it is the period when the Shechina (God’s presence) is close to us.

Not only are we assured of divine victory this month, there is also the attendant message from God that he is ready to uphold us and guide us with His hand. So comforted are we that we can rest assured of comfort in the palm of the rd this month, according to his promises, which is forever settled and infallible.

That is the word of comfort we get from Ezekiel 32:1-3 – “In the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, on the first of the month, the word of the LORD came to me saying, Son of man, take up a lamentation for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say unto him, Thou art like a young lion of the nations, and thou art as a whale in the seas: and thou camest forth with thy rivers, and troubledst the waters with thy feet, and fouledst their rivers. Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will therefore spread out my net over thee with a company of many people; and they shall bring thee up in my net.”

We are further encouraged to know that we can find the number 12 used in 187 places in the Bible and there are some significances to this number as we will read. The number 12 shows up in the Book of Revelation 22 times and are very important in that book and particularly in the New Jerusalem. The number also represents, in most cases, the number of perfection and authority.

It is noteworthy that the holy city, New Jerusalem, had twelve gates, upon which the names of twelve angels are written, and Jesus chose 12 disciples who later became the 12 apostles. We are also made to understand in Revelation 7 that twelve thousands from each of the 12 tribes of Israel will be saved near the end of the present world system. There are 12 precious stones that will be used as the foundation of the New Jerusalem (Rev 21:19-20). The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb on each one (Rev 21:14).

Once again, the message of freedom and deliverance is accentuated in the reminder that there was even a woman who had suffered from a blood haemorrhage for 12 years (Luke 8:40). We are further informed that twelve thousand will be taken from the earth so that they may serve the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ (Rev 14:1-5), the high priest’s breastplate had 12 precious stones embedded within them and Jesus very first words were spoken at the age of 12 (Luke 2:42).

In the final analysis, we should note that 12 as a number also manifests the symbol of spiritual food. This is illustrated in the 12 breads which Jesus broke at the Last Supper. This is evocative of the divine promise of enough food to sustain us, enrich us and empower us in this last month of the year, especially when we remember that Christ is the Bread of Life. By reason of Christ’s promise that whosoever eats of his bread shall never hunger again (John 6:35), I decree a transformation from lack into plenty, struggles into comfort and loss into victory for you in this last month of 2016.
