The home-based Eagles arrived in Cotonou, Benin Republic earlier today, as the Nigerian B-team moved early to settle down ahead of Sunday’s Championship of African Nations (CHAN) qualifier against their hosts.
The Nigerian contingent departed their base in the northern city of Kano on a domestic flight to Lagos on Friday morning and, after resting a while following their arrival in the nation’s former capital, they boarded the Eagles’ official bus and connected Cotonou by road.
The players, officials and coaches have since settled down at their abode inside the posh Hotel Royal in Cotonou, where they arrived at 1.30pm (same time zone with Nigeria).
The Eagles will take on The Squirrels of Benin Republic at Stade de Mathieu Kerekou in the first leg final round eliminator for the 2018 CHAN competition that will be hosted by Kenya.
The trip came few hours after Eagles chief coach, Salisu Yusuf rolled out a list of 20 players from clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) for the encounter, in which The Squirrels are reportedly lining up seven Nigerian-born imports to battle their visitors.
