Nigeria Cycling Federation (NCF) president, Engineer Giandomewico Massari has disclosed that the body has set plans in motion to frontally tackle any incidences of doping among the country’s cyclists.
Making this known in an interview with sports247.ng, Massari revealed that the federation has set up a committee to wade into any issue that may arise from cases of doping offences.
Massari said the step is aimed at stopping any athlete from thinking of the idea of spiking their system with banned drugs, while also ensuring that Nigerian cyling has a clean image in the global community.
He stated: “We are discouraging any athlete involved in taking a banned drug to enhance his or her performance.
“We all know that using banned substances is an illegal practice, and we have to keep telling our athletes to avoid such matters.
“Anyone who wants to flout the rules is not welcome here and we, as a federation, will not encourage them.”
