Ahead of Saturday’s African Cup of Nations Cup qualifier against Libya at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, over 22 players have arrived camp for the encounter.
Among players already in camp are Kelechi Iheanacho, Henry Onyekuru, Ahmed Musa, who is expected to captain the squad and Arsenal superstar Alex Iwobi. The first training session has already taken place with players showing stern stuff.
Camp sources however informed SportsDay, that the first training session was to ensure that all the players invited for the encounter are 100 percent fit and the medical team of the Super Eagles were informed to watch out for any slip from any player as the encounter is crucial if the country must not miss it third consecutive Nations Cup Championship.
“The medics are at alert and they will sooner than later discover who is fit and who is not. But so far, so good, it seems all the players are fit and ready to go for the jugular as the battle for the start shirts looks hot just after a training session.
The team continues its training session on Wednesday morning at the training pith of the stadium, with an evening session in tow. A full feel of the main turf will happen on Thursday evening or Friday morning, while the visiting Libyans will have a feel of the stadium on Friday evening.
