Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred OnyinyenNdidi is tipping the country where he plays his trade to lift this year’s World Cup trophy in Russia, as he believes the Three Lions will triumph overall next Sunday.
Aside from rooting for England because he earns his living in the British country, Ndidi is also rooting for his club mates, Harry Maguire and Jamie Vardy, who have different levels of impact so far at Russia 2018, but the former Racing Genk of Belgium ace says they will both make hay in silencing Croatia in Wednesday’s semi-final.
After silencing Croatia in midweek, Ndidi sees England doing same against the winner between France and Belgium, as the Super Eagles’ star is keeping faith with his pals to shine all the way to glory for the second time ever in the country’s Mundial outings.
England won the trophy for the first and only time on home soil in 1996 and, now that they have reached the semi-finals for the first time since getting there last at Italia ’90, Ndidi says The Three Lions will end on top at the end of the tournament in Russia.
Nididi, who said the most memorable moment of his own outing in Russia with the Super Eagles was their 2-0 victory over Iceland, said it was also up to him to support England, following Nigeria’s exit and that of all other African countries.
He explained: “Since all the African countries are out of the tournament, I tip England to win the World Cup.
“(Nigeria’s) win against Iceland brought joy and hope to the nation and the team. Unfortunately, the game against Argentina did not go down well, as expected even though we put in our best in that game.”
