Ex Super Eagles coach, Joe Erico has applauded the move by SportsDay to orchestrate a new name for the under-23 national team, but prefers to stay cautious over its implementation.
When the former Super Eagles goalkeepers’ trainer’s view on the matter was sort, Erico told SportsDay that though the suggested options are good, it will take time for fans and the general public to get used to the new name.
He added that Nigerians have got used to the name ‘Dream Team,’ with which the side won the first football gold medal for Africa in 1996 and he thinks the name should still be used.
The ex-international keeper, however, further said the campaign for a change of name for the squad is a good idea coming from SportsDay and stressed that he really appreciates the suggestions.
“I want to say I am really impressed with the idea you people brought up, it’s a great one and I believe in future your suggestion will be highly appreciated.
“We all pray the team will do well at the Olympics and bring glory to this nation,” the jogo bonito exponent concluded
