Kano Pillars’ Nwagua Nyima says every point secured is important for his side following their 0-0 draw against Abia Warriors at the Umuahia Township Stadium last Sunday.
The Sai Masu Gida had secured their seventh draw on their travels at Nasarawa United and were eyeing their first away win in Umuahia, but ended up settling for another draw.
Having stretched their unbeaten run to seven, the forward lauded his side’s resilience in the wake of securing a point against the ‘disciplined’ Emmanuel Deutsch’s side.
He further assured that they will keep fighting hard to secure enough points to claim the top spot from high-flying leaders Lobi Stars in their coming games.
“Every point at this stage is important for us,” Nyima told Goal.
“Picking a point here in Umuahia was very important and we thank God for it. Despite our draw in Umuahia. I cannot say it was an easy match because both teams were very careful and displayed so much discipline during play.
“Abia Warriors played more physical and the pitch was not friendly to us but we worked hard and were able to withstand them. Our coach told us to be more discipline, ensure total concentration and that we should press and play in there half.
“At this stage, I will say it is important because we all knew how each point we gain can help us and I am satisfied with my colleagues because we know what we want and working towards it. We’ll get to the top soon.”
Despite the draw, Kano Pillars dropped to third on the log with 37 points from 23 games – now six points adrift table-topping Solomon Ogbeide’s men.
