Former VP Namadi Sambo, Speaker Dogara to screen 13 PDP presidential aspirants

Namadi Sambo is the chairman of a committee that will screen the presidential aspirants on the platform of the PDP – The screening committee also has speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara – Some of those to be screened are Bukola Saraki, David Mark, a former minister, Alhaji Tanimu Turaki (SAN), a former governor of Plateau Senator Jona Jang Namadi Sambo, who served with Goodluck Jonathan, was appointed in the night of Thursday, September 20, as the chairman of the 10-member committee that would screen the 13 presidential aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The Punch reports that members of the committee include the speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; a former president of the Senate, Iyorcha Ayu; and Chief Tom Ikimi. They listed the aspirants that will be screened to include former vice president, Atiku Abubakar; governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal; governor of Gombe, Ibrahim Dankwambo; a former governor of Kano, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso; a former governor of Sokoto, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa. The others aspirants are Bukola Saraki, David Mark, a former minister, Alhaji Tanimu Turaki (SAN), a former governor of Plateau, Senator Jona Jang, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, Alhaji Sule Lamido, Datti Baba-Ahmed and Usifo Stanley. NAIJ.com earlier reported that former governor of Plateau state and presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jonah Jang, said his party cannot ask him to step down for some other presidential aspirants. Jang made the statement after an announcement by the PDP Board of Trustees (BOT) of the party’s decision to reduce the number of its presidential aspirants.
