The Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Ezeagu LGA, Chukwudi Fred Ezinwa, has described the Edward Ubosi Boxing Talent-Hunt Initiative as a major panacea in the fight against unemployment.

This grassroots initiative of Enugu State Speaker, Edward Ubosi was aimed at identifying talents for the state to use at national sports festival.

It can also help to develop useful skills among the youths in Enugu State.

Ezinwa who was visibly excited over the initiative, said he was happy to associate with the Technical Committee when they visited Ezeagu LGA.

He pledged the support of his council toward supporting the Speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly, Edward Ubosi in actualising his `dreams’ of producing potential boxers for the state.

Ezinwa also commended the Speaker and the Enugu State Government for providing an enabling environment for the initiative.

He urged the organising committee to sustain the exercise and possibly make it an annual event.

Earlier, the committee visited Iwollo and Agu-Obu Owa High Schools in Ezeagu LGA, where they carried out sensitisation talks as well as some boxing demonstrations, led by Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, former world welterweight champion.

The Principals, Okey Nwoye and Titus Obinna Onuora of the schools visited, expressed joy and happiness that their schools were selected for the boxing talent hunt.

They noted that it was regrettable that in the past, undue attention was paid to soccer to the detriment of other sports. They described the initiative as an `innovation’ and a bold step by the Speaker Edward Ubosi.
