Ideye Seeks Another Career Revival In Turkey

Tianjin Teda of China striker, Aide Brown Ideye has become the latest Nigerian players to receive an offer from Turkey in the summer transfer window, but may have to settle for another loan spell instead.

Though Ideye is yet to regain trust and relevance at Teda, who loaned him to Malaga of Spain last season, after he fell out with the Chinese Super League club’s coach and top shots, Teda insist they will not sell him for cheap.

This is a revival of a hint that first emerged for Ideye in August, when hints surfaced that Teda were ready to ship him out to Turkey to make way for other plans in their squad.

That came after Ideye was taken off the first-team squad of the club on the final day of the Chinese transfer window, and he was demoted to the team’s reserves.

Ideye was subsequently replaced by Ghana striker, Frank Acheampong from Anderlecht of Belgium, with a caveat that the Nigerian star had failed to establish himself at the club.

The 29-year-old well-travelled attacker joined Teda in February 2017 from Olympiacos of Greece in a deal worth around £12m but fell out with the coach a few months later.

He was subsequently confined to Teda’s reserves, having scored just four goals in 14 league matches for the Tianjin-based club, who are again set to loan him out this summer.

A credible source has now restated: “Ideye will most probably be sent out on loan by his Chinese club, and it is looking very much like he will be going to Turkey.”
