Ighalo Explains Role As Changchun Yatai Captain

Nigeria international Odion Ighalo has explained his role as the captain of his new Chinese Super League side Changchun Yatai.

Ighalo joined the club from English Premier League (EPL) side Watford FC midway through the current 2016/17 campaign.

The 27-year-old striker has now captained Yatai in their first two games of the 2017 Chinese Super League season with the team losing both games.

“I am not the captain of Changchun Yatai, but for the last two games I did captain the team,” Ighalo told Allnigeriasoccer.com.

“The (substantive) captain played both matches.”

The former Nigeria Under-20 captain netted 16 goals in the English Premier League for Watford, before he left the club for Yatai.

Ighalo and his Yatai team-mates are scheduled to take on Shangdong Luneng in a league game on the 2nd of April 2017.
