Leicester City attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho has been offered an escape route at English Premier League rivals, Southampton from his ongoing nightmare at King Power Stadium.
Few hours after Leicester confirmed that they are ready to sell Iheanacho in the January transfer window, a cross-section of Southampton fans took to social media to declare their desire to have him at their club.
The Saints’ supporters are of a view that Iheanacho would be able to make a better impact for Southampton than he has done for The Foxes, because they see him as the sort of player that is needed in their squad.
Iheanacho has struggled to make an impact at Leicester and has scored just once in 13 games across all competitions – the majority of which have come from the substitutes’ bench.
The centre-forward, who is earning £115,000-a-week at the east Midlands outfit, wasn’t even handed a rare start when Claude Puel’s men faced League One side Fleetwood Town in the FA Cup on Saturday, and the club could be forced to take a loss on him if he is sold.
Southampton fans, though, are rooting for Iheanacho’s arrival, as one said he is “just the sort of player we need,” and another added “if we’re going to spend £20m on someone I’d rather it was him than Walcott.”
