Arsenal of England rising star, Alex Iwobi has admitted he will have to score lots of goals in the coming season, in order to tie down a regular shirt with The Gunners.
While reflecting on his run of the past season, in which he lost his starting shirt towards the end, on account of his lack of scoring form, Iwobi says he aims to put in more effort in order to prove his mettle at Emirates Stadium.
Iwobi said he is determined to prove himself to earn regular playing time when the season starts in August, recounting that he did not play as much as he wanted for Arsene Wenger’s side last season.
The 21-year-old disclosed that he has stepped up his personal training routine, as he prepares to hit the ground running when Arsenal kick-off their Premier League campaign against Leicester City at Emirates Stadium on August 11.
“I have a point to prove. I didn’t play as much as I’d like to last year. I want to start the season with a bang. I’ve been doing a bit of running and ball work to prepare.
“I need to be a bit hungrier this year, add more goals and assists. At the start of last season I played a lot. I want to do that all year. Consistency is the key with me.
“Goals win games. I need to add that. Arsene Wenger spoke to me towards the end of last season. Show me you’re able to do that and I’ll give you a chance,” Iwobi told The Mirror.
