Lagos has come agog with great expectations, as all eight teams expected to compete for honours in the finals of the 13th Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball League arrived on Saturday.
Action is scheduled to start on Monday at the National Stadium in Surulere, after all officials of the competing teams met at a technical meeting on Sunday at the event venue.
In the build-up to Monday’s dunk-off, Zenith Bank promised to make the 2017 Final 8 a thrilling event for the participating teams and fans of the giants’ game.
This is the final lap of the competition, which started in May with the first phase in Abuja, while Kaduna hosted the second phase, the third in Asaba and fourth phase of the female league held in Ibadan.
The eight teams include the defending champions, First Bank of Lagos as well as IGP Queens of Lagos, former champions, First Deep Water of Lagos and Plateau Rocks of Jos.
Other qualifiers for the contest in Lagos from July 22 through 29 are another former champion, Dolphins of Lagos, as well as Customs of Lagos, Delta Force of Asaba and GT2000 of Abuja.
An All Star Game is expected to draw curtains on the event on Friday, July 28.
