It has been gathered that the League Management Company (LMC) has proposed to pay each of the 20 NPFL clubs a take-off grant of N35m for the new season to begin next month.
A top club official informed SCORENigeria that LMC is paying out this grant as most of the clubs are owned by state governments, whose budget will not be ready till early next year.
LMC chairman Shehu Dikko has stated the league kick-off date will soon be decided by the club chairmen.
He further said that the new season will have to end before the 2018 World Cup in Russia, which begins in June, so that the Nigeria league season will align with that of Europe as demanded by CAF and FIFA.
Already several clubs like Kano Pillars and Katsina United have resumed training for the new season.
