LMC Shift League Matches

Written By: SD Reporter

Nigeria’s League Management Company (LMC) have shifted this weekend’s matches in the country’s top-flight championship, because many key players of the competing clubs are with the home-based Eagles, who play away on Sunday against Benin Republic in the first leg of their final qualifier for the 2018 Championship of African Nations (CHAN).

With the first leg holding this weekend and the second leg billed for August 19 in Kano, the LMC has deemed it right to put matches on hold till August 20, but it also ultimately means the season will no longer end on September 3.

The LMC also took into consideration the fact that the main Eagles will also play Cameroon on September 1 in Uyo and September 4 in Yaoundé, for back-to-back matches of the Russia 2018 qualifiers, hence a decision to move the season ending matches to September 9.

Consequently, dates for the last four matches of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season are now August 20, August 27, September 3 and September 9.
