MFM Too Good For Nasarawa United

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club (MFM),  defeated Nasarawa United 2-1 in the rescheduled fixture of Matchday 16 in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) played on Thursday at the Soccer Temple, Agege Stadium.

After the 1-0 defeat to Djoliba AC of Mali over the weekend in the CAF Confederation Cup playoff first leg, MFM FC needed a victory to put the team in shape ahead of the return leg of the CAF competition coming up next week Wednesday and they did just that courtesy of two first half goals from Udeh Zinte and Emiloju Julius.

MFM FC scored two goals under three minutes in the first 45 minutes to put the game to bed. Udeh Zinte was fouled by Jide Williams inside the visitors box after six minutes of play and the referee pointed to the spot for a penalty. Udeh stepped forward and put the ball beyond Suraj Ayeleso.

Julius Emiloju scored the second goal of the game three minutes after Zinte’s goal following a good counterattacking move.

The Solid Miners came out very strong in the second half as they poured forward searching for goals and their effort paid off when Nwani Ikechukwu reduced the deficit for the visitors with a fine finish after receiving a pass from Victor Okoro in the 74th minute of the encounter.

Before the equaliser, MFM FC goalkeeper Folarin Abayomi had denied the Lafia-based side a chance to score when he pulled off a big save from a long range effort from Mayaki Ismaila.

Kabiru Dogo’s men pressurized MFM’s defence with series of attacking displays but the Olukoya Boys were brilliant with their good defensive play. The win over Nasarawa United has taken MFM from 15th to 10th position on the log with 22 points from 14 league game.
