The message to encourage you and I all through this month is the symbolic movement from one to two that February connotes. We have now entered the second month of the year, which means that God has added another phase of 2017 to our lives and it means there is cause to rejoice.
However, it is not just about adding another month to our lives, there is the stronger spiritual sense that God has put one and one together to make eleven (1 to 1 = 11), not two; hence the affirmation that multiplication is the essence for you and I this month. The message goes on to state that it is not just multiplication coming our way this year, we also have reason to expect all round fruitfulness, which is the realization of gains from all labour that is expected to bring profit.
The realization of both gains in the month of February, reaping bountifully from what we have sown in January, comes from the words of The Almighty in Genesis 8: 14 – 17, which states: “And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried. And God spake unto Noah, saying, Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons’ wives with thee. Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.”
There is also the assurance that all that clouds that are befuddling the routes to our progress and breakthrough will be removed and we shall all move forward in this month of multiplication. It is bound to be a progress induced by divine hands and Grace of The Most High, as the spirit of God moving mightily across the land.
That is the affirmation we gain from Numbers 10 verses 11 – 13, which reads: “And it came to pass on the twentieth day of the second month, in the second year, that the cloud was taken up from off the tabernacle of the testimony. And the children of Israel took their journeys out of the wilderness of Sinai; and the cloud rested in the wilderness of Paran. And they first took their journey according to the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.”
This is also the month for the manifestation of all projects, as the story of King Solomon reveals how God’s grace upon his reign was consummated with the commencement of the grand building programme for the Lord’s house. The symbolic message for you and I to hold unto, as we espy the realization of our dreams for massive success and achievements is gained in I Kings 6: 1, which reads: “Now it came about in the four hundred and eightieth year after the sons of Israel came out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.”
There are also several spiritually strong symbolic interpretations for the number 2. Among such allusions are that the word ‘God’ appears in all books except two, which are the Song of Solomon and Esther; the shortest verse in the Bible, which is “Jesus wept” found in John 11:35, contains just two words; of the ten shortest books, eighth ranked Haggai has only two chapters; and during Creation week God made two great lights, one to rule the day (sun) and a lesser one to rule the night (moon), in Genesis 1:16.
We should also remember that, though two in number, God and His only begotten son, Jesus Christ, compose a single divine being. There is also the union between Christ and the church (1 Corinthians 12), while the testimony of God is divided into Old and New Testaments. At the same time, it is noted that Jesus sent his apostles out in groups of two to preach the Gospel (Mark 6: 7), there are two kinds of baptism – water and spirit (John 3: 5) and there were two angels of the tomb (John 20: 12).
Finally, the gracious tidings of this second month of 2017 also include an attestation that none of us will be found missing when it’s time to count people who have been blessed by the glorious hands of God. Such is the denotation we gain from the numbering of God’s people by Moses, two months after their exit from the land of Egypt, with a correlative inference that it is time for you and me to count our gains now that we have escaped the months of dryness occasioned by recession in the country.
The words of encouragement in this regard come from Numbers 1: 1-4, viz “The Lord spoke to Moses in the tent of meeting in the Desert of Sinai on the first day of the second month of the second year after the Israelites came out of Egypt. He said: “Take a census of the whole Israelite community by their clans and families, listing every man by name, one by one. You and Aaron are to count according to their divisions all the men in Israel who are twenty years old or more and able to serve in the army. One man from each tribe, each of them the head of his family, is to help you.”
Now, we are assured of divine help on every side, as the Lord has promised to provide all our needs according to His riches and glory through Christ. Not only will He provide our needs, He will also multiply in twofold plus more all the good things we have gained through His grace. That assurance is concretized in the miracle of sufficiency on the mount, when two fishes were part of the multiplication of food to feed the 5,000 (Matthew 14: 19). Because Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever, you and I will also be fed fully and will witness multiples of blessings in this second month of the year 2017. IJN.
