CSKA Moscow of Russia returnee, Ahmed Musa has revived his hope of getting a shirt in the Super Eagles’ list to this year’s World Cup with a return to goals scoring form back at the club that shot him into international limelight.
In contrast with several months of wallowing in depression at Leicester City, where he was not dressed for a single Premier League match before hopping out on loan back to Moscow last month, Musa has now netted three goals in two friendli9es for The Armymen.
Musa’s form will come as a boost for Eagles’ technical adviser, Gernot Rohr, who kept faith with the attacker all through his trying spell at Leicester, but was keen to see him leave England in order to relaunch his career.
Musa continued to hit the headlines in Russia when he scored a brace for CSKA in a 3-0 thumping of Spanish modest side, Elche in another mid-season friendly game.
The pacy winger, who was on target in his first game on his second return to the capital club last week, was again in imperious form for the Red and Blues as they prepared for the second half of the Russian league.
Musa opened scoring for Moscow in the 22nd minute when he fired into an empty net after being set up by Alan Dzagoev to put Moscow 1-0 up.
CSKA continued to pressure Elche and soon got their second goal five minutes to half-time when Vitinho made it 2-0.
With half an hour gone, Musa was on hand to make it 3-0 when he fired past the goalkeeper after a cut back from the flank from AleksandrGolovin.
