Ahead of this Friday’s second group match at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada, Australian star, Caitlin Foord has come out with a down-to-earth confession that her team are coming up against tricky opposition in Nigeria’s Super Falcons.
While admitting that the Nigerians would equally be out to show their mettle as African champions, Foord noted how well the Falcons fought against Sweden in their first match and submitted that her team will have to be at their very best to overcome the opposition.
Foord admitted further that their opening loss to USA has put Australia in a tight spot, but reckoned further that both teams with both sides desperate for all three points to keep their hopes alive.
The Australian winger admitted it could be tricky task for her side to emerge victorious against the unpredictable Nigerians, but is staying positive for a pleasant outcome for her team.
“They looked really good and looked strong, so it’s going to be a tough game the next one,” said Foord. “Coming into the tournament, no-one really knew what to expect about Nigeria, they definitely showed what they could do.”
