Nigeria Tops African Judo Championship

Nigeria has emerged tops of all at this year’s African Judo International Championships, with 11 medals in total at the competition in Niger republic.

Nigeria’s haul was led by the female judokas, who won five gold medals and one silver, while their male counterparts won four gold and one bronze.

The female judokas included 2015 All Africa Games bronze medallist, Fatima Audu (-48kg) and Franca Audu (-52kg) won gold medals.

Others are Charity Jatau (57kg), Joy Asonye (-70kg) and Echi Umar (-78kg) won gold medals for the country in Dosso; while Josephine Emmnuel (+78kg) settled for a bronze medal.

The males were Michael Agbo (60kg), Edwin Patrick (66kg), KajidoJona (81kg) and Mohammed (+100kg) won gold medals while Jude Solomon settle for bronze medal

The team was accompanied by Coach Umaru Musa of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, an instructor, Dolar Thomas, along with three accompanying referees – Isaac Abraham, Auwal Umar Reza and JustinaAgatahi.
