NWFL Stars Tops Nigeria’s WAFU Women’s Cup Squad

Nigeria Women Football League stars Osarenoma Igbinovia, Joy Jegede, Chioma Wogu, Rita Akarekor and Amarachi Okoronkwo top Super Falcons squad for the WAFU Women’s Cup in Abidjan.

Coach of the senior women’s team Thomas Dennerby revealed his final squad of 21-players that will represent the country at the championship which will be played between February 14 to 24.

Also making the list are junior internationals Rasheedat Ajibade, Kemi Famuditi, Anam Imo, Mary Ologbosere, Chiamaka Nnadozie who recently helped Nigeria qualify for the 2018 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in France.

Nigeria who are drawn in Group B, will begin their campaign against Benin Republic on February 15 at the Robert Champroux Stadium, before taking on Senegal and Togo.

In the meantime, experienced defender Jegede has been named captain of the team and will be assisted by Igbinovia and Famuditi.
