The winner of this year’s Oba of Benin Invitational Golf Tournament, Osaze Iyare has revealed the secrets behind his success at the recent competition, as he says he learnt how to play the game the hard way.
In the wake of what sports247.ng reports as a superlative outing by Iyare in the seventh edition of the competition, he said getting adding the winner’s trophy to his shelve was simply a result of dedication.
The handicap three player won the tournament with 149 net, having played 70 and 79 net respectively on day one and two, to beat off his namesake, Oscar Iyare.
The runner-up, handicap 10, played 156 net to snatch second place, while Prince Aghatise Erediauwa with 160 net settled for third after beating Ben Oghumah on count back.
The winner disclosed afterwards that he had been eyeing the trophy since last year but, after seeing it slip from his reach, he was better prepared for it this year.
“Thanks be to God that I won, because I played hard golf due to the fact that I was taught the hard way. All glory be to Him,” Iyare said.
