Mountain of Fire & Miracles (MFM) female basketball team coach, Aderemi Adewunmi (aka Owollo) is relishing his side’s maiden outing in the Nigerian Women Basketball Premier League.
Although sports247.ng reports that his side lost to former champions, Dolphins of Lagos in the semi-finals, ‘Owollo’ said his young team will pick up all the positives and do better in future.
Against all odds, MFM had a fairy tale ride before falling at the feet of the 2015 champs, and Adewumi says they were not disgraced.
The former coach of Dolphins between 1998 and 2000, said his team have learnt a lot from their participation in the league, during which they also lost to Dolphins in the Atlantic Conference in Enugu.
However, Adewunmi, who was contracted by The Olukoya Girls just few days to the commencement of the league, admitted it was not easy preparing the rookies for the competition.
Adewunmi confessed: “It was very difficult to put them together (as) there was nothing on ground.
“Godwin Enekhena called me that it has materialised because we have been working on it for some time for over three years.
“He just called all of a sudden that I should just come and help and I had no choice because he is my very good friend.
“Within 2, 3 days I had to look for young players. I prepared them and we started playing the second day we got to Enugu.”
