Nigeria’s top ping pong player, Aruna Quadri has turned his attention toward winning his first table tennis gold medal at the Africa Games next year in Morocco.
After winning the 2018 ITTF Africa Championship in Mauritius, Quadri said his biggest desire is to also win the men’s singles event at the Africa Games.
Nigeria ended the Mauritius tournament with gold in both the men’s singles and men’s team events, silver in women’s team event and mixed doubles as well as bronze in men’s doubles, men singles and women singles.
Quadri said he was very excited with his winning feat on Sunday, which is his first feel of the continental title and comes soon after he also won a similar competition in Lagos, but he is now thinking of also ruling the Pan African Games.
“I am happy that I am winning this Africa Championship title for the first time particularly less than one month after I won the ITTF Challenge Nigeria Open in Lagos.
“I am grateful to the Mauritian fans for their support throughout all my matches.I think I have won virtually all the titles in Africa.
“The only one I am still hungry to win is the African Games title which I believe I will continue to work hard in order to win it next year in Morocco,” Quadri enthused.
