The sixth month of 2018 provides us with the team to break down all walls of affliction, addiction and oppression in our lives, so that we can build new walls of grace provided by God. This is the month when we are reminded about the call for a new building of God’s house in Haggai, how Joshua led the Israelites to bring down the walls of Jericho, and how the birth of out Lord Jesus Christ launched us into realms of favour.
Haggai 1: 1-5 tell us: “In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,
“Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD’S house should be built. Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying, Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste? Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.”
However, it is not enough for us to lend hands in building the house of God, you and I must ensure we are partakers in the Labour of Love, which entails spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is the charge we receive in Haggai 1: 14 -15, which declare: “And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God, In the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.”
Ezekiel 8: 1-3 reveal: “And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there upon me. Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber.
“And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.” Which correlates with the last phrase in Haggai 1: 5 – Consider your ways.
The contemporary inference from these verses is in 1 Corinthians 3:16 and 17: “Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.”
We are, therefore, urged to turn from our evil ways and follow the narrow path outlined by Jesus Christ. We are also reminded that God actually created Man to fellowship with Him. That is why number six is symbolic in many ways. We should also remember that for the acquisition of victory over Jericho, God told Joshua and Israel: “You shall march around the city, all the men of war circling the city once.
“You shall do so for six days. Also seven priests shall carry seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark; then on the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people will go up every man straight ahead” (Joshua 6:3-5).
For six days they marched around the city-state of Jericho and on the seventh day, the horns were blown and the walls came crashing down. This is also symbolic of the creation week Man worked (marched) for six days and on the seventh day he rested (and the walls came down).
Other symbolic instances of the spiritual angles to number 6 are: The Earth and all things were created in six days (Gen 1:31-2:2)(Ex 20:11)(Ex 31:17), Man was created on the sixth day (Gen 1:26,31), Abraham made intercession on behalf of the people of Sodom 6 times (Gen 18:16-33), the Israelites were to gather Manna for six days (Ex 16:5,22,29), the 6th Commandment says “thou shalt not kill” (Ex 20:13)(Deut 5:17), and the glory of the Lord covered Mt. Sinai for six days (Exodus 24:16).
We should also note that Jesus’ first miracle was changing water in six pots into wine (John 2:6-10), that Mary anointed Jesus’ feet six days before Passover (John 12:1-3), and, it was the sixth hour when Peter received his vision from God opening the door to the Gentiles, (Acts 10:9). All these are symbolic of the revelation of God’s power in magnificent dimensions, which shall be your portion this month and beyond.
Before then, Luke 1:26 – 28 state: “And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.”
This reminds us that the favour of God opens all doors, and whatever seems impossible becomes possible. That is confirmed in Luke 1:36 and 37, which remind us: “And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
By reason of this revelation, I pray that you are highly favoured of God this month, and nothing shall be impossible for you to achieve. Once you call on the Lord you shall receive what you seek and the name of Jesus shall avail for you in every situation. Amen.
