Chelsea of England right-wing-back, Victor Moses will likely be replaced by new arrival, Antonio Rudiger in The Blues’ starting line-up for their EPL opener against Burnley on Saturday.
This much was disclosed by Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, while addressing a post-match media conference, in which he admitted that his tactical plans for the game have been altered by Moses’ ineligibility.
Moses is suspended for the game when Chelsea start the defence of their Premier League title against Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon, and the London club’s Italian says he is lacking the right alternative for right-wing-back ahead of the fixture.
With Moses unavailable for selection due to the red card he got in the 2017 FA Cup final against Arsenal, Conte has hinted that summer arrival from Germany, Rudiger will be named in the starting line-up.
However, Conte is also looking in the direction of Spain international, Cesar Azpilicueta to slot in at right wing-back, which would then mean seeing Rudiger further inwards in a three-man defence line.
Conte didn’t reveal the role Rudiger will play, but it is envisaged that defender will play on the right of the defence, with David Luiz in the centre and Gary Cahill making up the back line.
”He’s (Rudiger) a good player and (has) a good personality and technique,” said Antonio Conte.
