Samuel Kalu Cherishes Second Super Eagles’ Cap

Girondins-Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu is relishing his second senior national team outing, as he admits it was an exciting evening for him in action against Liberia.

Speaking in the wake of his appearance for the Super Eagles against the Lone Star on Tuesday, which came only three days after he twinkled on his debut against Seychelles, the former KAA Gent of Belgium forward said it was a memorable outing for him.

He won a penalty and was adjudged man of the match in his debut against Seychelles, as Nigeria won the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier 30 away, but Kalu says Tuesday’s game in Monrovia was a lot more special for him.

Kalu further said it was a huge motivation to play on the same pitch with Weah, and says it was good to be close to the 1995 African, European and World Footballer of the Year.

He stressed that it was a big lift to share the same pitch with former Monaco, AC Milan and Chelsea striker, who he said he heard about when he was still a kid.

“I couldn’t follow him much when he was playing, but I could see some of his skills from the videos I have seen of him. He’s a legend, a world-class player.

“It was a big motivation to play against him. It was great to represent Nigeria, this is a good step for me in the national team,” Kalu concluded.
