The inaugural meeting of the Sothern FA Chairmen was held at the Morning Star Hotel in Victoria Island, with a clear declaration that it was a non-political organisation but ready to take football forward in the Southern region of the country.
The meeting which was chaired by NFF First Vice President, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, with Barrister Chris Green, released an 8-point communiqué. The most important being that the national team, the Super Eagles must do well at the upcoming World Cup in Russia.
The Conference also immediately appointed a five-man steering Committee, made up Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi, E.C Chukwuemeka, Mazi Amanze Uchegbulam, High Chief Taiwo Oungobi with Barr. Chris Green serving as Scribe. The Conference said it will seek dialogue rather than confrontrations to resolve all existing football ‘wahala’ in the country.
In another breath the Conference appreciated the leadership of the NFF as led by Melvin Amaju Pinnick and hopes that the national team excel at Mundial 2018. It thereafter wished the Super Eagles a splendid outing the Russia 2018 World Cup, while mandating the Steering to draw up a frame work for the body’s regular meeting.
