Supreme Education Duo Top Rabiu Adeola Scrabble Contest

Supreme Educational Foundation, Magodo stole the show at the 3rds RabiuAdeola Schools Scrabble Championship, as two of their students, Angela Osaigbovo and Bamidele Sharon emerged first and second respectively.

Osaigbovo stepped up from her runners-up spot from last year’s edition to emerge overall winner of this year’s edition at Lagos Country Club, Ikeja GRA, after four rounds of intense display of word craft by students from 18 schools that took part in the event.

The new champ, who amassed a cumulative score of +929 spreads, was unstoppable through all the rounds winning four games to come up tops to cart home with giant trophy, a gold medal and educational gift items.

Sharon emerged silver medallist with a total of +572 spread with four wins, while George Ime George of Topfield College, Ajegunle was third with four wins and +450 spread.

All participating students also went home with juicy gifts and the sponsor, Bimbo Adeola, who was elated with the turn out, promised to make the next edition bigger and better.

While serving a hint that schools from across the south-west would be invited to participate, ‘The Top Striker’ also appealed to parents to allow their kids play the game

The managing director of 27th July Limited Sports Network said: “I’m overjoyed with the response by schools and the skills displayed by the young competitors. I’m excited to sponsor the competition every year because it’s my own little way to give back to the society and contribute to the growth of sports in Nigeria. Our dream is make them world beaters which we will achieve as the competition keeps getting more recognised.

“It’s a blend of sports and education. We hope parents will allow their children play the game as it helps them academically. It’s also much more exciting because the first two winners are girls. I thank God for the success. Definitely, next year will surely be better.”
