Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) Tennis League 2016 champions, Team Offikwu have stepped up their efforts to retain the title they won in their debut outing last year.

The Kaduna-based team, led by Sylvester Emmanuel, has been reinforced with two former national champions, ShehuLawal and Henry Atseye.

In a show of their ability to retain the title, Offikwu won all their round robin matches to top the White Group.

The team, which also have 2017 CBN Open women champion, Sarah Adegoke, will meet Blue Group runners-up Team Civil Defence in a tie scheduled for Abuja on December 2 and 3.

The Abuja semi-finals have been tagged the final before the final by tennis followers as Team Civil Defence also have three national champions who are in good form.

The Abuja-based para-military outfit have current national champions AbdulmumuniBabalola and Christie Agugbom as well as Clifford Enosoregbe in the team.

The other semi-finals at Enugu Sports Club on November 18 and 19 will feature two newcomers Team Muller of Lagos and Team Ndoma-Egba of Abuja.

Team Muller, who also scored a perfect five in the round robin matches to lead the Blue Group, have Joseph Imeh, who has yet to lose a match in the league as their lead player.
