Thierry Henry will not be Aston Villa’s new manager, believes Harry Redknapp.
The Arsenal and France legend has been heavily linked with the role, with a Daily Mail report saying that he would be appointed and take John Terry along as his No.2.
But Redknapp spent time with Terry at a Legends of Football event in London for Nordoff Robbins – Terry’s long-time Chelsea and England team-mate Frank Lampard was being honoured.
And it appears that Terry may have let it slip to Redknapp that a double act involving the former rivals is off the table.
“I don’t think that Thierry is going to go there. That’s not what I have heard,” Redknapp told talkSPORT.
But that does not mean Terry will not find himself back at Villa Park, with Redknapp suggesting that he is more likely to end up as the manager, rather than an assistant.
John Terry could still return to Aston Villa as their manager, rather than Henry’s assistant
“I was at a function last night and John Terry was there and I had a feeling he was right in the frame for the Villa job,” Redknapp added.
“He’s a runner, that’s for sure!”
