Newly-promoted Dutch Eredivisie side VVV Venlo are hoping to clinch the signature of Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning Golden Eaglets captain, Kelechi Nwakali.
This comes just a week after the Limburg-based club, dramatically, dismissed speculation linking them with a move for the attacking midfielder.
However, the story has now changed, as VVV coach, Maurice Steijn has confirmed that talks are in progress with the youngster regarding a loan deal.
The player’s older brother, Allwell Nwakali earlier disclosed that talks are ongoing with VVV, FC Utrecht, FC Basel and other teams over a possible loan deal.
Though Steijn admitted that a transfer is not yet done and dusted, he confirms interest from Venlo in the 19-year-old Nwakali, who spent the whole of last season on loan at another Dutch club, sMVV Maastricht.
”We’re still considering a player like Nwakali, waiting for him to come from Arsenal,” Steijn told De Limburger.
