Warren: Anthony Joshua vs Fury Would Be Biggest Gross In UK Fight history

Written By: SD Reporter

Promoter Frank Warren tells The Independent that he thinks a heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is the fight people want, and that he’s willing to help facilitate it.

Warren says a potential purse split should be 50/50 — something Eddie Hearn might disagree with — but then mentions that he doesn’t see any real roadblocks with the television distribution rights, saying both BT and Sky Sports could air the fight since he anticipates there being plenty of money to go around.

“It would be biggest grossing fight that’s ever taken place in this country, that’s for sure. It would be a huge gate and you’d probably get 2m people watching it on pay-per-view.

“That’s £50m in the tank straight away without the gate or anything else. It could make £100m, for sure.”

Although Fury hasn’t fought in a couple years, Warren mentions that Fury has never lost his titles in the ring, so Joshua would have to face him if he ever wants to be considered the lineal champion.
