Reigning Commonwealth Youth Games silver medalist, Tiana Eyakpobeyan and Blessing Ogundiran have been drawn in the same semifinal heat scheduled to hold Monday evening in Accra, Ghana. The third Nigerian in the hat, Olajide Olayinka is drawn in the first semifinal while pre-Games favourite, Gina Bass of the Gambia will run in the third and final semifinal heat.
While Olajide is expected to punch one of the two tickets on offer for the final, Eyakpobeya and Ogundiran will battle each other and are expected to pick the two tickets for the final to enhance the possibility of a Nigerian clean sweep of the women’s 100m medals.

For the men, Consider Ekanem will run from lane six in the first semifinal and battle Cameroon’s Itoungue Bogognie Emmanuel for the two automatic tickets on offer for the final. Like Consider, Sunday Okon and Ushoritse Itsekiri will also run from lane six in the second and third semifinal respectively to book their ticket to Tuesday’s final.
