1X Bet Cup N20m Prize Money Battle Begins

The battle line is drawn, the dire is cast as 20 teams fight for the N20m prize money in Africa’s largest grassroots competition, 1X bet cup which held their draws Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

The glamorous event which was held at the Radisson Blu hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, had the 20 teams grouped into four groups of five teams each.

According to the Technical Director of the tournament, Waidi Akanni, the competition has become bigger and better since after the first edition with a whooping twenty million naira (N20m) up for grabs in this second edition.

“I want to thank our title sponsors 1X bet for the tremendous support we have received from them.

“This is the biggest grassroots competition in Africa and the stakes has even been raised by 1X bet as N20 million is the total price money for this year’s edition.

“It’s going to be another intense three weeks of the best of grassroots football’, Akanni assured.

Defending champions, Somolu/Bariga has been drawn in group B as they seek to defend their title. They will face Collins Edwin FC, Team 360 FC, Dosu Joseph FA and Ilupeju Pillars of Ekiti in their group.

FC Bethel Sporting that spanked a team 9-0 at the playoffs will battle familiar foes G12,, 11 Football Academy, Gunners Links FC and Wasola FC for group A ticket.

Group C will be a titanic battle between Odion Ighalo FC, Young Strikers, Emiloju FC, Emaljus FC and Ikorodu Eagles FC.

While in group D, 36 Lion, Dominion Hotspur, Royalty FC, Diadem Stallion FC and China Sunstars will fight to finish for the ticket to the next round of the competition.

The final of the tournament will be played September 25 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
