As many as 20 of the 23 players head coach Jose Peseiro invited for Thursday’s international friendly against Portugal arrived Lisbon Monday ahead of the high profile game.
The match against Cristiano Ronaldo led, World Cup bound Portugal will hold at Sporting Lisbon FC’s Estádio José Alvalade at 7.45pm.
Top on the list of Nigerian players in camp are strikers Terem Moffi who has banged in 10 goals in the French Ligue 1 and is ranked third behind Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in the top scorers’ list; Paul Onuachu who is the top scorer in the Belgian topflight league and Ademola Lookman, the third highest goal scorer in the Italian Serie A.
Also in camp is in-form Everton midfielder, Alex Iwobi, Nantes of France forward, Moses Simon and assistant captain of the team, William Troost-Ekong who has been playing regualerly for Watford since the appointment of Slaven Bilic as the Hornets’ head coach recently.
Others in camp include goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, Kelvin Akpoguma, Oghenekaro Etebo, Emmanuel Dennis, Calvin Bassey, Joe Aribo, Tyronne Ebuehi, Frank Onyeka, Bright Osayi Samuel, Ebube Duru, Chidozie Awaziem and Bruno Onyemaechi.
Meanhwile Napoli forward and Serie A top scorer, Victor Osimhen has been ruled out due to injury.
Also out is Orlando Pirates of South Africa defender, Olisa Ndah.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had in a massage on its verified Twitter handle on Monday confirmed that Osimhen and Ndah would miss the game through injuries.
The NFF further said the two players have been replaced with Cyriel Dessers and Awaziem respectively.
Thursday’s game would serve as a pre-World Cup warm up for Portugal who will face the Black Stars of Ghana in their Group H opener in Qatar on November 24.
