Adetunji Faults Nigerian Clubs’ Care For Players

Abia Warriors of Umuahia returnee, Sunday Adetunji has faulted the manner in which clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) take the welfare of their players with levity.
In a down-to-earth chat after his return to Umuahia from Enyimba of Aba, Adetunji said Nigerian players do not sign long term deals with NPFL clubs because the teams do not look after them.
Adetunji, who was a late invitee to the Super Eagles for last month’s exhibition friendly against Liberia, said home-based players know that most NPFL clubs do not look after their best interests.
Adetunji, who confirmed to sports247.ng that he has returned to his parent club after the completion of his loan deal at Enyimba, added that NPFL teams always try to stop good players from fat transfers.
He retorted: “Nigerian clubs make it extremely difficult for players to move when lucrative deals come and they don’t even look after the interests of their players.
“It is such practices that put off players from committing long term to clubs in the Nigerian league.”
