Lennox Lewis Accuses Anthony Joshua Of Chasing Easy Money

For all his praise, love and incredible support, it seems that Anthony Joshua actually does have some critics.

Though, according to former heavyweight boxer Lennox Lewis, the widely admired British champion needs to focus less on his currency and more on his legacy.

Joshua is no short of options and is the most in-demand fighter in the entire heavyweight community.

Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder, Dillian Whyte and even Oleksandr Usyk are all clipping at the heels of the current champion.

However, Lewis has claimed that this could, in fact, be his downfall, and suggested that Joshua is potentially avoiding fights with great competitors to cash in on easy pay-days.

“Joshua can take his time. He’s champion now. He says he doesn’t want to fight Tyson Fury for a year or so,” he said, speaking to Boxing Scene.

But, with Fury indefinitely contracted to a rematch with Wilder whatever the outcome, it seems that Joshua’s next opponent truly hangs in the balance.

The three-time heavyweight champion believes that this decision should not be taken likely and that Joshua must aim for a fight that will benefit his career rather than his bank account as he has done before.

“He wants to go around making money,” claimed Lewis.

“I think that’s going to be a downfall for him. He has to stay with it, he can’t be in the background.”

Lewis suggested that the IBF, WBA and WBO champion is not acting how he should.

“If he wants to be champion, he has to act like a champion.”

Joshua has a fight at Wembley in April already in place, but as of yet, the opponent isn’t known.

Lewis believes that this fight should prove to be the biggest fight in AJ’s career and has strongly advised Joshua to change his outlook on the boxing world.
