Liverpool’s U20 World Cup winner Seyi Ojo is close to playing for Super Eagles when they take on Seychelles in a dead rubber AFCON 2019 qualifiers encounter next year.
The 21-year-old who is currently on a season-long loan to French Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims has agreed to switch allegiance to the senior national team of Nigeria after representing England at various youth levels
According to Owngoalnigeria a source at the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF), the paperworks for his switch are almost done and the winger could feature in Super Eagles next international game will come up in March against Seychelles.
“We have made significant progress on his case. These things can take a while to materialise but on his case, we are very close to sealing it. The paperwork has been filed now it’s left for the various FA’s affiliated to the English FA to do the needful.
“He will be ready to face Seychelles in March if all goes according to plan and if the coach needs him in his team. On our part, we will ensure that the papers for his switch are ready before next year”.
Nigeria have previously succeeded in snapping up former England youth internationals like Sone Aluko, Victor Moses, Shola Ameobi, Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina.
